About KosmOS
KosmOS is a Linux distro for RasbperryPi targeted at astronomy, astrophotography and observatory automation.
KosmOS is based on standard Raspberry Pi OS and consists of a collection of Debian packages for open source astronomy software (INDI, KStars, PHD2), plus some minimal customization packages.
Key features
Built with these ideas in mind.
Up to date astronomy software
Astronomy-related software packages are updated as soon as possibile after upstream releases. For critical ones, previous than latest version is always kept and installable.
Stable operating system
Astronomy or astrophotography are time-critical activities. Since we are not the ones who decide when, it’s imperative for the system to be always in a production-ready state.
Open platform
Entirely based on open and community-driven software, is itself open to enthusiastic collaborators.
Getting started with KosmOS
Three simple steps

Boot the system and complete setup
Needs only some basic info (chosen username and password, WiFi connection if not wired), can be completed headless too.
Open project, built for the community
KosmOS is an open, community-driven project. It aims to provide a stable, streamlined platform for astronomy, astrophotography and observatory automation for who prefers Linux/Raspberry Pi based workflows.
